Caliber Systems Inc.'s earthworks group has developed over the past several years from the efficiencies realized in constructing both the deep utilities and earthworks components of large civil projects. From our roots in canal construction, Caliber Systems Inc. has moved on to complete a number of complex highway projects, subdivision site grading, dam construction and pond cleaning. A portion of our work to date includes hourly equipment rentals.

A list of our past clients includes government branches such as Alberta Transportation, Alberta Infrastructure, the City of Calgary, municipalities, smaller towns and irrigation districts in Southern Alberta. We have also completed projects for private land developers and many of the leaders in the local heavy construction industry such as Graham Construction and Engineering Ltd., PCL Construction, Dominion Construction, Ellis Don Construction.

2006/07 - Shepard storm water diversion
DIVERSION PHASE 1

The City Of Calgary

Construction of headwork structures for the diversion of storm water including: check structure in the existing main canal, wasteway structure to the new Shepard Canal, twin duct underdrain (1800*2400mm) and associated inlet/outlet structure. Included the excavation of 40,000m3.

The City Of Calgary

Construction of 9.5km stretch of new canal including: excavation of 1,300,000 m3, placement of armour/riprap gravels, installation of 3 twin multiplate structures (3300*5000mm), two twine 3000mm road crossing structures, access roads and associated structures.

The City OF Calgary

Construction of 2.9km of new canal including: the excavation of 400,000m3, armour gravels, access roads and associated structures.

Construction for widening of 9.0km of the existing Highway 22, which included 320,000m3 of excavation.

REGIONAL LANDFILL EXPANSION

City Of Lethbridge

Expansion of municipal landfill including the installation of a clay liner with leachate collection and associated accesses.

2005/06 - Secondary A Canal Rehab. (Langdon Reservoir to 12 Mile (Spillway)

WESTERN IRRIGATION DISTRICT (WID)

Rehabilitation of 4.9 km of existing irrigation canal including 4 road crossings; 230,000 m3 in earthworks; installation of cast-in-place spillway structure.

(S. of Hwy 575 to N. of Hwy 581)
